#PositiveAttitudes

It’s that time of the year again with epic seasonal hustle and bustle. People are off to the races at stores shopping while stores are restocking and promoting new products. It’s the season when attitudes can become unpleasant and attitudes get tested. Whether it’s due to stress or uncomfortable changes due to holiday blues, sometimes it can get the best of folks. Which brings me to the subject at-hand, “Great Attitudes”! It is such a gift during these times. Whether you’re experiencing a good day, others may not. So, that brings me to why I’m posting this story of positivity.

It's now just a few days before Thanksgiving and stores are overflowing with frantic and frenzy customers. Today I experienced a very positive young, female cashier with a great attitude. Her attitude was very refreshing and noteworthy for me. As I inched forward in line for customer service, I could hear folks in front and behind me complaining along with other antics of impatience—unfortunately another reminder of the holiday season. From my vantage point, this cashier greeted each customer and smiled throughout transactions while many customers complained how about prices. In fact, she often paused when customer’s request to exchange items for sale items with lines wrapped down other aisles. Some people were irritated and unpleasant during the pause. Nonetheless, she kept being friendly and professional. As I approach the cashier, I smiled and greeted her in a way that said I truly understand! When it came time for me to pay, I realized I had mistakenly hidden my source of payment which was hidden in another compartment. As I stood fidgeting to uncover my discount card, she smiled and said take your time. Fortunately, I found my card within five seconds and thanked her for her patience. After inquiring about how her day was going, she pleasantly replied “I’m having a great day. I enjoy times like today and people are just people”. She never stopped smiling and ringing up my purchases. I paid and thanked her afterwards and wished her a Happy Thanksgiving! She reciprocated.

I left the store profusely smiling and thinking: Wow, that cashier has a great attitude! To experience this was truly a gift today. In my opinion, the world needs more people with great attitudes and positivity, and less negativity. With that, I ask you to join me on a mission to triumph positivity and trounce negativity. Believe me, positive attitudes matter!!!
