#BePatientAndWaitExpectantly

Updated: Mar 19, 2020

How many of you know patience is a virtue and a fruit of the Spirit?

It took me many years to develop patience. As I recollect, my childhood often tested my patience. Since then, as I grew in age, life taught me about being patient and to learn and depend on Father God. Over the years as I grew in age, I realized with for all my desires and needs, making things happen on my home timetable was sometimes beyond my control especially when I wanted something so badly. Since then I try to practice patience every day with every person and every way in my life. And yes, Galatians 5:22 translated version says, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith,”.

How do you wait expectantly?

To paraphrase, James 2:14 says, “What good is it, my brothers and sisters if someone says he or she has faith but does not have works?” What this scripture means is faith without works is dead. Yes, faith requires action, expectantly. That is with an excited feeling that something is about to happen, especially something good for it has made me feel better, both mentally and physically.

First, you must believe it will happen with a sense of boldness. This is building your faith. Then, you must see it before it will come to pass. Next and I can’t emphasize this enough, you must wait on it and don’t get ahead of God. Waiting does not mean doing nothing. Rather, waiting includes preparing for what you prayerfully want to happen, envisioning it happening, and waiting expectantly for it to happen. For example, if you’re expecting a baby. Go ahead and start planning a baby nursery and/or buying baby clothes. Or, if you’re expecting a new job, start purposefully searching. Be proactive. Just don’t sit around idle or doing nothing.

Towards that end, get busy preparing to receive your blessing and be patient for God’s promises will one day come true. I can attest to this!
